Nara Japanese
For my sins, the first onigiri I had was in South Africa and it set the bar high.
Fortunately for me, London means I have access to almost any cuisine my heart, well stomach, desires.
Me, my bestie, my flatmate and a pal headed to Upmarket food hall on Brick Lane which was buzzy with Saturday business from the dozens of stalls. However, we were on the hunt for one thing only; onigiri
Nara Japanese is tucked right up against the entrance one of the doors of the food hall. They had several regular fillings, and one special. The portions were larger than snack size, just one was filling enough.
Spicy Salmon - 3/5
Tempora - 4/5
Filling, hot, lots of interest in flavour with the sauces, crispy onions and fish. Frankly, not as good as the one I tried in South Africa but if you’re in need of a fresh onigiri hit, swing by Nara’s. Be prepared to sit down and eat - don’t dare try to walk and munch!
